Holly set aside her Blackberry, and lifted Ellie up onto the counter, where the little happily grabbed a cookie from the plate. Max - who was beyond fussy this morning - whined from his high chair, rubbing his eyes in frustration. Taking care of two infants was tough enough, but not having your husband there to help, was totally nerve racking, and sometimes, Holly felt like giving up all together. But, she knew she couldn’t do that. She had a family to raise, and restaurant to run, she couldn’t just give up. There was the added stress of not knowing if Will was safe or not, and every night, Holly got down on her knees and prayed that he would come home, unharmed.
“Mommy? Why is Max being such a baby?” Ellie scowled, shoving another cookie in her mouth. “Because Max is a baby, El,” Holly replied as she lifted the curly haired baby from his high chair, and hoisting him up onto her hip. “Now, why don’t you go and get dressed. Ava and Auntie Emma will be here soon,” watching Ellie hop off the counter, Holly sighed softly and turned the coffee pot on. “How are you doing, little man?” she asked Max, who whined again and nestled his head against her chest. She patted his back to try and get him off to sleep, jumping slightly when a knock came at the door. Still holding Max, Holly made her way to the front door and swung it open, smiling at the redhead, and the little girl who was holding onto her hand. “Hey you,” Holly crooned towards Emma, glancing down at Ava. “Hey cutie. Come on in, guys,” Holly stepped aside, allowing the two of them to come inside.
